Promptly Treat Coffee Spill

To absorb up as much coffee as possible, grab either paper towels or a clean cloth. Work your way to the center, after starting to blot the exterior of the spill first. Doing this tactic will prevent the coffee from seeping into the fibers and spreading them out further. Lightly dampen the area should the coffee spill be found dried out, and again, start on the outside working in.

The mixture: With 2 cups of warm water (not hot), 1 tsp of white vinegar, and 1 tsp of liquid dish soap, mix them in a squirt bottle or bucket. Without over saturating, administer the solution on the coffee, and use a dry cloth to blot out the coffee residue. Repeat the application and blotting until the coffee is removed.
 

Refrain Scrubbing & Rubbing at Carpet Stains

Do not attack the spill with rubbing and scrubbing methods while treating the coffee spot. Scrubbing and rubbing will only push the coffee deeper into the fibers and spread it out further. Use your fingers and use minimal pressure to concentrate the cleaner and work it in areas.
 

Treating Tougher Carpet Stains

Try combining baking soda and water into a paste in the event the above mixture only lightened the coffee spot. Simply add a few drops at a time to about ½ cup of baking soda until it is a paste with the consistency of toothpaste. Apply the paste onto the targeted area and leave it to soak in until the paste has completely dried. After it has dried, be sure to vacuum the area thoroughly and any remaining residues and potential odors should be removed.
